come home

I know you feel unworthy just being yourself
You can feel the eyes on your body
Feel their weaponized words building up
Waiting to fire

You armor yourself with self-deprecation
If you laugh the loudest then you aren’t the joke
You’re the jester not the jest
But dear love

I am hear to tell you, you are worthy of kindness and of love
Of rest and appreciation
You deserve so much more than their greedy grabby hands
Most of all you deserve these things from yourself

Shed your armor
Lay down your weapons
There may still be tongues ready to lash you
And I will let my love be your shield

You can find comfort in us
My dear brave heart
Find peace in this home we’ve built, in the family we made
Let it be enough
