age

i do not plan on aging gracefully
i will not fight off what comes for us all
let my body sag as it grows back toward the earth
let me live my life not fearing some ambiguous end

i will not tip toe and dance
i am not better than my ancestors
there is so much joy, anger, pain, beauty
there is so much……more

maybe i will drift quietly in the night
maybe it will be loud and awful
i just know it doesn’t matter
i cannot carry that fear (i carry so much other weight, let me set this one down)

i’m setting it down
