Review – I’m going to be honest; I bought this book because I was curious how you have sex with a ghost. Turns out it’s pretty easy when they’re always corporeal. Nolan (our ghost of Christmas Past) is a surly Irish ghost whose job is to show some of the worst of humanity the errors of their ways. Harriet is a little bit of a people pleaser with a wicked sweet tooth, but surely, she isn’t a bad person….right?

Look I really enjoyed this book, but my biggest complaint is that I had so many questions at the end. It felt like the ending was rushed and there was too much unresolved. I also hate it when a B character comes in and explains pretty much the whole plot of the book up until that point. It felt like both Nolan and Harriet should have been able to recognize why they were connected without a third character. I liked the idea of how ghosts are basically always there, just ignored. The whole way purgatory is crafted as basically a corporate waiting room with different departments for different supernatural entities was really fun.

I had an issue that if Nolan exists in our world as a corporeal being, how can he have like an identity? Like would he just always be with Harriet, because he couldn’t get like a job. Or would he like use his magic to make money? Do I understand that this isn’t the point of the book? Yes. But it still bothers me.

Nolan and Harriet are a good grumpy/sunshine couple. I liked how he helped her see her worth and stand up to her family. The character growth over a few weeks was a little rushed, but still lovely to watch.

I’d definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes a little magic in their romance.
