Quick Synopsis – This book is part of a series.
The lost Volsik heir has finally returned to the people of Íseldur, and even with the warrior who’s captured her heart standing by her side, Silla’s task is monumental. She must earn the loyalty of the northern jarls to drive Ivar Ironheart from the throne and restore peace in the kingdom. But the secret she vigilantly guards threatens to ruin all her plans: A shard of a god lives in her mind, twisting her thoughts and deeds to His will.
Meanwhile, held captive on the mysterious isle of Zagadka, Saga Volsik fights to return to her sister in Íseldur. But when King Ivar sets his sights on the Zagadkians, she’s forced to make an impossible choice: fight for the man who stole her—and is now hell-bent on marrying her—or let the innocent people of his kingdom die.
Return to the land of ice and fire, where a god awakens, a queen finds her power, and sisters must unite against the darkness threatening their realm.

Review – This is the third full length novel in a series. Don’t read on unless you want massive spoilers. This book was fine. I will say this thank you Demi Winters for including a recap at the beginning of the book. More authors should do this! It’s an excellent way to catch up.
It took me a long time to read through this. It wasn’t until I was half-way through that I felt like the book really picked up. Also, I still hate Jonas. I very much wish he wasn’t a character and had died. He’s one of those characters where everything that happens to him is someone else’s fault. I just can’t stand that he can never see that his actions have consequences. I do like that we’re still following Silla and Saga as they each face their own obstacles and battles. I also feel like there individual romantic interests balance the sisters well. I also liked the God of Chaos, because he is truly a force of evil.
The plot for me just dragged on. Like I almost DNF’d this book at 30% because I just felt like the book was wandering on. Weirdly as much as it dragged, it also felt like there was too much plot. Hekla and Silla both had great plot development, whereas Saga it felt like the plot was just happening to her. Will I keep reading this? Sure, but I hope there’s more development for the sisters and also, they dissect more of what the God of Chaos said. There were so many hints and plot points that he let slip, not to mention the visions.
If you’re already a fan of the series this is an okay addition.
