Pick Me

I wanted you to pick me
To love me like you had no other choice
I wanted to win this game we were playing with other people's hearts
I needed to be your first choice
But it was diminished by the fact that you had to choose in the first place
That you dragged your feet to be in love with me

All of your sweet nothings felt like they belonged to some other broken heart
I wanted to feel celebrated but instead I felt tainted
We built our foundation on the drama and jilted lovers
I couldn't leave, but I couldn't stay
Starved for your attention and tired of your vanity I wilted in lust
