This was a great year for reading! Some of these books I reviewed on my blog and some I just read for fun. One of my goals for 2024 is to review more books that I read for fun. My top 5 aren’t really in order because I honestly love these so much.
- Godly Heathens by H. E. Edgmon
Oh man I loved this book. It was such a unique take on Gods and Goddesses. Honestly how could you not love a book that has a chapter called “There Are No CIS Gods”. I loved the characters and how they embodied their powers. The sequel Merciless Saviors is one of my most anticipated 2024 reads. - Don’t Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones
Stephen Graham Jones is becoming one of my favorite authors. This was a nonstop follow-up to My Heart is a Chainsaw. I would follow Jade Daniels into hell. This book was a perfect slasher follow-up. A higher body count and a bigger bad guy. The end of the trilogy, The Angel of Crystal Lake, comes out in March 2024. I’ve already pre-ordered a copy because I’m that excited. - The Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming
I have declared myself a Kimberly Lemming fan and I mean it. I recently started reading romance novels and I devoured this whole series. They are such fun books. I honestly may have read this one twice, I liked it that much. The love story was sweet, the action was fast, and the book was STEAMY. I cannot wait to see what Kimberly is going to write this year. - Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire
This was one of our book club picks this year and it was so beautiful. This is the first book in the Wayward Children series and ugh it broke my heart. I haven’t highlighted so many lines in a book in so long. The idea of finding a world that fits you because you don’t fit here is just something that struck such a cord in me. I’m hoping to return to the series and read a few more. - Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
I love this series and honestly this one ironed out so many plot points for me. My favorite thing about Tamsyn’s writing is she ties everything up so neatly. Like I’m on the edge of my seat, sort of confused, and then in the last like 15% suddenly everything clicks. I am rabid for when Alecto comes out this year. I NEED ANSWERS.
