She said I would forget her come morning
But I could not imagine leaving behind the taste of her lips
The somber light in her eyes
I told her I would fight the night
Bring down the moon just to exist with her for a little while longer
I could never forget the love we just made
I could trace her freckles
Match the constellations on her face with the stars in the sky
She was my own heavenly body
Then sleep finally came and robbed me of her
I couldn’t even remember what I was forgetting
There was nothing left but these written words and the smell of her on my sheets
