Book Review –I really enjoyed this book, though I would say it’s playing pretty fast and loose when it comes to a retelling. Is there a big bad wolf? Yes. Does Ruby represent little red riding hood? Sure. But that’s kind of where the similarity ends. I would say this is way more of a monster fucking book. Which honestly sign me up. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Ruby is a twenty something waitress in a small town. Each night she walks home through the woods she can feel the eyes of someone on her. It doesn’t take too long for Ruby to meet the man behind the eyes, and to discover he’s a werewolf. Rafe is a grumpy werewolf who has left his pack. When he catches the sweet cinnamon smell of Ruby through the woods he can’t stop himself from following her.
The book follows what I think is a pretty typical romantic fantasy trajectory. Let me just say this author can write a good sex scene. My eyes were glued to the page. I could not stop reading this book for the……plot. All jokes aside the plot is fairly straight forward and I can already see the next books in the series will focus on the other two brothers. And honestly hopefully some family therapy because these brothers need to talk about how much their father SUCKED.
Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK/One More Chapter for the e-ARC.
