If you’re looking for a super steamy version of Eat Pray Love, this book is not that. There are some steamy moments and a sex scene or two, but it isn’t like a super sexy novel.

Amelia as a character just seems like someone who things happen to and like she isn’t really an active participant in her own life. While this is something I can relate to, it was very annoying that so many of her problems could be solved if she would just be a better communicator. James is almost a fully fledged character except we don’t really know that much about him, he’s a nerd and he also left his job. I felt like more could have been done to round out the personalities of these characters, I kept wishing for more in-depth conversation at any point between the two of them. I just didn’t really get butterflies or invested in their relationship.

The third act of the book was really what irked me, I don’t want to spoil it, but it almost made me not finish the book. I obviously could tell what the ending would be, but it just really made me want to shout.

Other than the character flaws, I did enjoy the book. And it had one of my favorite tropes (only one bed, what will they do?). This is a cute quick read that would be perfect for a beach read or a rainy day.
